The Best Parts Of NEPA
Northeastern Pennsylvania, or NEPA, is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful regions in the entire state. Anyone who has ever visited NEPA can probably tell you that this area is truly one of a kind and definitely worth a visit. From breathtaking mountain views to some of the best pizza you’ll ever taste, NEPA really is in a league of its own. Here are just a few of the best things NEPA has to offer.
Pizza, Pizza, Pizza
The one food NEPA is known for over anything else is pizza. Residents of Old Forge like to refer to the town as the “Pizza Capital of the World”, and the term “Old Forge pizza” is used among locals to describe its unique style. If it seems like there’s a pizza place on nearly every block in NEPA, it’s probably because there is. Gerry’s Pizzeria in Wilkes-Barre is locally known as having some of the best sweet sauce in the whole area, and on any given day the parking lot at Gerry’s is full. Other popular local pizza places in NEPA include Angelo’s, Pizza Bella, Buona Pizza, Sizzle Pi, and many more.
One of the most appealing parts of NEPA is the local business scene, which continues to thrive. With the development of local businesses, more and more people have been attracted to NEPA, and many people have even relocated here for employment. Local businesses such as SEO consulting agencies have brought attention to the area, and more and more businesses seem to pop up every day. It was recently announced that two new businesses, Patagonia and Adidas, will be coming to the Hanover Township Industrial Park, and the arrival of both companies is slated to create approximately 2,000 jobs.
Thanks to the wildly popular NBC show The Office, Scranton, Pennsylvania has become a nationally recognized city. The show, which centers around a group of office workers at the fictional Dunder Mifflin Paper Company, is a hilarious commentary of the world of 9-5 employment. Since the show’s premier in 2005, Scranton has become a popular tourist attraction for fans of the series. NEPA also has a thriving music scene, with once-local bands like Title Fight, Tigers Jaw, and The Menzingers achieving national, even international success. The area is also home to some great music venues, including The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, The F.M. Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre, and The Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton.
The Great Outdoors
NEPA has no shortage of outdoor parks and recreational areas, making it an ideal place for people who love the great outdoors. The Seven Tubs in Wilkes-Barre is a popular swimming hole in the summer, with “the tubs” referring to potholes formed by flowing water. Ricketts Glen State Park in Benton is another popular local attraction, and the park features 22 named waterfalls for visitors to hike. Other local attractions include Nay Aug Park in Scranton, the Francis E. Walter Dam in White Haven, and Frances Slocum State Park in Wyoming.
